First Kiss
Two teenage
girls cornered a young teenage boy and pointed at a girl standing in a group of
kids that were fifteen feet away and said, "Debbie likes you and wants to
go to the dance with you. Do you want to go with her?"
The teenage
boys friend said," Dude she is hot. You are dumb if you don't."
The shy
teenager has been in this position a few times in the past year. He went out
with another girl for a few weeks never, not one time saying anything to her
nor did he ever make eye contact with her. The relationship ended not because
he mistreated her or said the wrong things but because he was so shy that he
completely avoided her.
Another time,
he was going out with a girl one year younger than him and she pressured him to
kiss her and talked about how their life would be when they got married. She
described how they would move into the house next to her parents and have kids.
That was the end of that relationship before they even held hands.
So he was now
frightened on how this new girl would terrorize him in the near future. Knowing
he would be ridiculed if he didn't accept the girl’s invitation he agreed to
meet her at the dance.
The dance was
the 8th grade graduation dance. It was the last dance of the year and school
was out the following week. The young boy’s father had to work that Friday
evening so the only way for the teenager to get to the dance was to walk. So
wearing a suit and dress shoes he would have to walk over four miles to the
school where the dance was to be held.
He waited for
the last minute to leave hoping that he would be able to get a ride there. Once
he realized that he would not get a ride he walked as fast as he could as well
as ran when there was a break in traffic. He was embarrassed to run thinking
that the people in the cars riding by were laughing at him. He felt excited to
meet Debbie at the dance but at the same time he was shaking in fear to what
the night had in store for him.
When he arrived
at the dance sweaty from the June heat and his nervousness climbed as he
entered the cafeteria. He looked for his friends or his awaiting date Debbie.
The music pounded as he saw his buddy across the room so he walked over to him
to say hi. As he made his way across the room Debbie walk in front of him and
said "Hi."
The smile on
her face was warm with a hint of nervousness. The boy replied back a low
volume, "Hi."
They walk over
to his friends sitting on the tables against the wall and sat with them. His
friend was right she was beautiful. She had straight long black hair that smelt
great and she was very soft spoken.
Soon the
dreaded slow song came on and his friend commanded that the two of them go out
and dance together. The boy, never had danced before and reluctantly agreed and
walk her to the floor. She put her arms over his shoulders and he put his hands
on her waist. This was the closet he had even been to a girl in his life and he
was so nervous that he was shaking.
Wasting no time
at all she leaned into kiss him. His heart began to race as her lips came
closer to his; he leaned into her to accept the kiss banging his teeth into
hers. They both pulled back and nervously laughed. She looked into his eyes
asking him to try again. He leaned in and their lips successfully meet to
mark his first kiss.
