Thinking of all the things that separate the differences between you and me
Remembering that being an individual was always a very strong plea
Outside I change from the advice of taking advantage of my youth
Inside I am the same but now my appearance embarrasses you and that’s the truth
Look in the mirror past the years that have developed the lines on your face
Look beyond today and remember how you felt at my age not wanting to be a disgrace
Is your appearance more important than me having the same chances you had?
I have never been embarrassed of you even when I have been mad
When judging me from the outside in just remember one thing
Appearance does not dictate behavior may have a familiar ring
Point your finger at anyone else to lay the blame
Why should an appearance bring you so much shame?
So when you flip through your family album wondering what happened to change me
You will find your answer within those very pages which may be a harsh reality
